Message from RTA’s President Adam Grieper

I would like to thank the Board of Directors for their continuing efforts in 2012. Through their dedication and commitment, our organization has once again provided much-needed home repairs and rehabilitation to the homes of low-income and disabled seniors in the Albuquerque area.

We have added six key positions to improve RTA’s services: grant writing, RTA web site coordination, bookkeeping/accounting services, volunteer coordination, project management, and program development through an AmeriCorps staff member.

In early 2009, RTA entered into a new partnership with the New Mexico Veterans Integration Centers (NMVIC), a two-year transitional program that provides housing and services for homeless veterans. We were able to support them with a new facelift to their facility and a facility assessment that evaluated the structural needs of the center. All of this was done with the tremendous support of over 180 volunteers and FBT Architects, who planned and conducted the facility assessment.

I am proud to say that RTA’s Board of Directors, 343 volunteers, and 47 supporting companies and organizations completed six home projects and the upgrades for the New Mexico Veterans Integration Centers this year.

My goals for 2012-13 are to assure that RTA’s name is publicized to the public so that we can better identify needy homeowners and assist our client base, to streamline our start-to-finish process for our projects, and to expand our volunteer data base. In coordination with the RTA Board of Directors, I also plan to drive our commitment to support the NMVIC’s new facility and to provide them with the expertise required to provide a safe and comfortable living environment for our homeless veterans.
